Discernment

Jesus's constant message to us is to be confident in what we say, hear and do. We need to be able to discern what is best and be blameless and pure. Through the glory and praise of God, we seek to be filled with the fruit of the Spirit, remembering that it is our responsibility to plant and water, but it is God only who makes things grow. So let us continue to strive to read God's Holy Word unswervingly!

Merits of Confession

Finding forgiveness or forgiving others is tough! But what's more tough is the ability to confess
our sins in the beginning. The weight of sin and unforgiveness feels like our strength being
sapped away in the heat of summer. We deceive ourselves and are truthless when we deny our sins.
Just as Peter had said, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for
the forgiveness of your sins." Hallelujah, for we are forgiven!

Reverance and Awe

What is it that inspire awe in us? Is it the advanced technologies or stunning video effects in movies? How are we as Christians are being awed? Can we truly compare the awesomeness of human achievements and ingenuity with the awesomeness of God? Is it the fear, wonderment and reverence of God's glory, power and majesty? Let then us raise our voice, clap our hands, and worship God in jubilation, for He is worthy of our awe and praise!

Baptism & Commitment

What is baptism? Why do we Christians are instructed by God to be baptized? Baptism is an outwardly declaration to the Christian community that we have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour into our lives and willing to follow him. It's shedding off our old selves and emerging as a new body, as would a caterpiller would emerge from a coccoon as a butterfly. That is what baptism signifies ... a rebirth ... a renewal ... a reincarnation. So let us strive to rid ourselves of the old, and walk in the new ... side-by-side with Jesus Christ ... for ever and ever!

Body of Christ (Community)

Every human being on this planet truly dreams of a life where rife, sorry, grief, sadness or sorrow,
does not exist, and Christians are no different. God however, uses these difficult
circumstances or situations to build us much stronger, closer and ultimately much more
closer and reliant on His strength. As one part of the body can't live without the other, we
also can't live fully without others and Him. You now are the body of Christ, and each one
of you is a part of it, no less ... no more.

GIFTS - Abide in Him

All good gardeners will know that they can not let a tree grow wildly but be pruned to
produce plentiful fruit. We also like a tree, needs to be pruned, branches that bears no
fruit cut off, and well watered. We alone can not bear fruit ourselves, but be deeply
rooted in the vine, who is in Christ Jesus. So let us bear great fruit for others to
enjoy and not wither or die and be cast into the fire and be burned.

GIFTS - Servanthood's Bell-Shaped Curve (Perseverance)

There are many times that cirumstances will bring us down. However, if we by surrounding ourselves with
witnesses and comforters, we can throw off any hinderance and sin. With our perserverance through faith
in God and Jesus Christ, we can finish our work, making us more mature and complete. And God the
Father, himself, will say to us as He had said to His Son, "This is my son, whom I love, with him I am well
pleased." So let us not give up hope and fix our eyes on Jesus.

GIFTS : Ministry of the Mundane (Recognition)

All of us all have the need to be recognized and affirmed for the things we do, and this is no
exception for Christians. The danger arises when it becomes pride and "show-off" for others to see. It is
also what is our intent in our hearts when we do these "acts of righteousness" that will determine if it is
pleasing to God. Excellent example is with the story of Cain and Abel. Let us not be concerned with how
others sees our actions, but what God sees.

GIFTS : Comparison: The killjoy of Servanthood (Envy)

There are many poisons that can affect our relationship with Christ and also with others. One such poison is envy or jealousy. It is very, very destructive and can be very damaging. We as human beings, and unfortunately sometimes as Christians, tend to compare or compete ourselves with others .. whether it's their gifts, talents, or many other things. This will tend to distract us from the true purpose of our being here on earth ... that is to bring others to Christ. We must unswervingly keep our focus on Christ and not on world desires.

GIFTS : Walking in weakness

Every human being on this earth, Christians and all, have strengths and weaknesses. Although hard to comprehend, it is sometimes through our weaknesses that we gain our greatest strength through Christ's power in us. No matter what situation we are in, we must hold steadfast to God's promise and our trust in him, as well as praying unswervingly with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are not in this alone!

GIFTS : Use Me

Perseverance of Faith :

Having easy faith is not ... easy ... but must be done in perserverance. We need to have a sincere heart and be unswerving from God's promises. We're instructed to spur one another towards love and good deeds. If we don't have love in our hearts, then our words is only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

Vision and Fellowship

Each church needs to a vision plan in order to effectively spread God's Word into the world. This can be achieved through missionaries, fellowships, baptisms, teachings, prayers and so forth. There are also 3 influential things that a church should have and provide to believers: Assist people to accept God's Word, help them develop a relationship and devotion in Christ, and to conform and be transformed by Christ.

Reconciliation

If we are in Christ, we will become a new person, and our old selves will no longer exist. All of this is because God reconciled us to himself through Jesus. Thus, as Christ's ambassadors, we must spread the message of reconciliation to others.

Trust ... and obey

Sometimes in our walks with Jesus, there are times we need to have faith ... and other times we need to just trust and obey in God's direction for us. Just as Abraham had in complete trust in God and was willing to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, we must also do the same. Thus if we do so, God promises many great things as He did for Sarah, when He blessed her to become mother of nations.

Power and Mighty Strength

There are many types of power in this world, but none compares to the power that God has given us. It is this power that gives us strength to cast out demons, heal the sick, bring comfort to the sick and weary, and wisdom to one's words. It is not that our message and preaching of God's Word that are wise or persuasive, but a demonstration of the Spirit's power.

Peace of Christ

We need to let Christ's peace rule in our hearts since we are all members of one body. Though this peace, we're to teach and admonish each other with wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Always give thanks, either through words or deeds, in the name of Lord Jesus.
